Walk the Walk

We often say one thing and do another.  It comes so easy, it's easy to say "Yes I'll help you do that, just give me a call" yet have no intention of following through and hoping that you don't actually call.  Politicians do it all the time.  They say one thing to get elected knowing full well that they can not or will not follow through on the promises they make.

Our Christian life is no different.  We can know all the right words to say.  We can attend every Sunday service.  We can be faithful in prayer, but what really matters is our changed lives.   Matthew 7:20-21 says;

Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit that is produced.  Not all people who sound religious are really godly.  They may refer to me as 'Lord,' but they still won't enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven.

There is nothing we can do to make ourselves worthy of God's love except to accept the gift of Jesus.  That alone changes our lives and enables us to produce the fruit that identifies us as followers of Christ.
